Year 7 Admissions

Open Evening

Thursday 26th September 2019, 5pm - 8pm

All year groups are welcome to come and have a look around the school.  The Headteacher and the Admissions Manager will be delivering a talk in the Hall about Farmor's and the admissions process and there will be plenty of activities taking place around the school for your child to get involved with.  You will also have the opportunity to sample our food and find out about transport.  Staff and students will be available all evening for you to speak to about any issues or queries you may have.

Open Morning Tours

Open Morning  tours will be on Tuesday 1st & Wednesday 2nd October from 9am

These will be bookable nearer the time and will give you an opportunity to see the school in action on a normal day.  Students will be in lessons so you will not have an opportunity to speak to subject teachers, but the Headteacher and Admissions Manager will be available to answer any questions.

Application deadline

The deadline for entry to Farmor’s in September 2020 is October 31st 2019.  In September 2019 local authorities will send out information via your child’s school explaining how to apply for a secondary school placement.

Transition from primary school

The transition between primary and secondary education is a crucial period in a child’s education.  At Farmor's we have a number of activities to ensure that your child has a smooth transition, including two induction days, a visit to the majority of the primary schools to speak to the class teacher and students, a uniform trying on session and a parent information evening.

Year 6 Induction days

The Year 6 Induction Days take place during the summer term.  All pupils with a place at Farmor’s in Year 7 spend two full school days with us.  This gives them the opportunity to meet the Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher (Pastoral), Head of Year and Form Tutor.  Prior to their arrival they will have been assigned to their Tutor Groups for Year 7, so they are able to meet and start getting to know their new classmates.

Throughout the two days the students take part in activities that encourage the development of new friendships, building their confidence and enthusiasm for their arrival in September.  At the end of the second day they go home on the school buses that they will use in September, and this helps to allay any fears regarding transport.

Admissions to Years 8-11

Parents wishing to apply for a place in Years 8-11 are invited to make an appointment with Karen Brathwaite, Admissions Manager, to discuss the move and be given a tour of the school. Karen Brathwaite can be contacted by either email or phone 01285 712302 ex127.  Full details of the admissions process are provided following a visit.
